Header Logo

Header Logo

Effective Date: February 1, 2026   Last Updated: February 23, 2026

Hibu Policy

The header logo is the primary visual identifier of a business and appears in the site header of every Hibu One Smart Site.

Each site features one official business logo in the header — no exceptions. The logo must be clear, high-quality, properly optimized, and consistent across desktop, tablet, and mobile to maintain brand integrity and a professional appearance.

This guideline applies to the header logo only. For Favicon and Social Network Images, Badges / Accreditation logos, and Client Logo Use Before Release Agreement please refer to their dedicated guidelines.

Definition

The header logo is the official business mark displayed in the website’s global header area. It represents the business brand and anchors site identity across all pages and devices.

Purpose & Why It Matters

The header logo is the most visible branding element on the site. It establishes trust, reinforces recognition, and supports a consistent user experience across devices.

A low-quality, inconsistent, or improperly formatted logo negatively impacts perceived credibility and site professionalism.
Clear standards ensure:

  • Visual consistency across device breakpoints
  • Proper scaling within structured header layouts
  • Brand accuracy and integrity
  • Accessibility and SEO alignment

Rules & Guidelines

Logo Usage

  • Only one business logo may be featured in the site header.
  • If multiple logo variations exist, the client must select one for website use.
  • The selected logo must be optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile headers.
  • The logo must be appropriate for full-width header layouts and remain legible at smaller sizes.
  • Hibu does not redesign, rebuild, or recreate logos.

Accepted File Types

  • Preferred: PNG
  • Accepted: SVG, JPEG
  • Not Accepted: GIF, animated logos, or any logo containing motion or flashing elements

Minimum Quality Requirements

  • Recommended minimum size: 250px–400px wide
  • Logos must appear sharp and free of pixelation on all devices.
  • Blurry or low-resolution logos are not acceptable.

If a submitted logo does not meet quality standards, the Hibu design team will:

  • Search for a higher-resolution version, which may include:
  • Reviewing the client’s existing or prior website
  • Checking verified business listings (e.g., Google Business Profile)
  • Conducting a Google image search using the business name or “Business Name logo,” filtered for large image sizes
  • Confirming any discovered version is an exact match in style, color, typography, and design before use
  • Or use the best available version and document limitations in assumptions
  • Only logos that are identical to the client’s established branding may be used. Logos containing added elements (e.g., phone numbers, taglines, promotional text) must match the official brand mark or be cleanly separable without altering the logo itself.

Client Logo Use Before Release Agreement

  • A client’s logo may be used during the build phase prior to a signed Digital Content Release Agreement only when there is clear, visible evidence that the client publicly uses and owns that logo.
  • If ownership or usage cannot be reasonably validated, the logo must not be used until the release is signed.
  • Designers must document the evidence supporting usage when proceeding under this assumption.
  • For full requirements, validation standards, and examples, refer to the Client Logo Use Before Release Agreement guideline.

Logo Variations & Transparent Header Standards

When a transparent header is used, logo contrast and visibility must be preserved.

  • If the client provides both a white (or single-color light) version and a full-color version of the same official logo, both may be used strategically.
  • A white or light version may be used in transparent header states where background imagery requires high contrast.
  • The full-color version may be used on internal pages or solid background headers where contrast allows.
  • All variations must be official brand-approved versions of the same logo.
  • Unapproved recoloring, modification, or recreation of logo files is not permitted.

If multiple versions are provided, the selected usage must maintain brand consistency and visual clarity across all devices.

The Hibu design team is expected to rename uploaded files appropriately and apply descriptive alt text to each version for accessibility and SEO.

Connected Data & Device Behavior

The header logo is connected through:

  • Content → Connected Data → Business Images → header-logo
    (formerly “dark-logo”)

Device Independence

Header logos on desktop, tablet, and mobile are not linked to one another.

This means:

  • Disconnecting or updating the logo on one device does not update it automatically on other devices.
  • Any logo updates must be repeated across all device views.
  • This separation ensures proper scaling and layout control for each header configuration.

Client Expectations

  • Only one header logo may be used per site.
  • If a supplied logo does not meet quality standards, Hibu will communicate the issue and recommend replacement options.
  • Hibu does not modify brand marks beyond standard optimization for web display.
