Definition

Hibu One Smart Sites include a default, system-managed privacy policy and footer provided by Hibu. When a client works with third-party tools that collect user data (such as forms, SMS opt-ins, chat tools, or call tracking), the client may request to replace the Hibu privacy policy with their own.


Hibu does not modify its privacy policy content. Instead, the Hibu policy may be replaced with client-supplied policy content following a defined process.

Client Request And Intake Process

Initial Client Request

When a client asks to update or modify the privacy policy:

  • Explain that Hibu’s privacy policy cannot be edited for legal reasons
  • Confirm that Hibu can replace the Hibu policy with a client-owned policy
  • Request the client’s policy in Word or PDF format only


No third-party tools should be implemented until the client’s policy is provided and live.

Page Setup Requirements

  • Create a new standalone page using the thin hero layout
  • Page must:
  • Be hidden from navigation
  • Have No Index enabled
  • Title Tag:  Privacy Policy | [Name of Business]
  • Meta Description:  Protect your personal information with [NOB]’s privacy policy. Learn how we collect, use, and safeguard your data.

Footer Replacement Process (Escalations Required)

Hibu Smart Sites display a system-managed footer that includes links to Hibu-owned policies and “Powered by Hibu.”


To replace this footer content:

  • Submit an Escalations request to update the Copyright Widget
  • The Escalations designer will:
  • Replace “Company Name” with Privacy Policy
  • Link to the new client privacy policy page
  • Center-align the text
  • Set font size to 9pt
  • Final display format:  All Rights Reserved | Privacy Policy


Hibu copywriters and designers must not manually edit footer policy content.

Policy Content Rules

All policy content must be supplied by the client

Hibu does not write, edit, or generate:

  • Privacy policies
  • Terms & conditions
  • ADA or compliance language


Policy pages may be:

  • Separate pages per policy, or
  • Combined on a single page (client preference)


Any client policy page does not count toward the site’s purchased page total

Designer / QA Checklist

Before closing the request, confirm:

  • Privacy policy page exists and is correctly formatted
  • Title tag and meta description are present
  • No Index is enabled
  • Footer link points to the correct page
  • Footer text is centered and legible across devices
  • No legacy Hibu policy text remains visible

Key Clarification

The Hibu-powered footer is dynamically managed and updated by Hibu. Any replacement of policy links or “Powered by Hibu” text must go through Escalations and cannot be handled directly within the editor.
