Duda Widgets

Overview
Widgets are the individual content and functional elements used throughout Editor 2.0. They are placed inside Columns and Inner Columns and represent every visible or interactive piece of a Hibu One Smart Site. Widgets form the building blocks of each page and determine how text, images, buttons, forms, and other components appear across devices.

Definition
A widget is a self-contained element with its own content settings, design controls, and responsive behavior. Widgets allow teams to structure content consistently and visually while working within the Editor 2.0 layout system.
Widget Categories
Content Widgets
- Used for written and structured content.
- Examples: Text, Heading, List, Icon + Text, Accordion.
Media Widgets
- Used for images, video, downloads, and visual assets.
- Examples: Image, Gallery, Video, Slideshow, File Download.
Layout Widgets
- Support alignment, grouping, or spacing inside containers.
- Examples: Row, Column, Line, Spacer (limited use).
System Widgets
- Widgets that interact with platform-level functionality or Connected Data.
- Examples:
Form, Button (connected), Map, Business Hours, Reviews, Breadcrumbs.
Usage Standards
Placement
- Widgets are always placed inside Columns or Inner Columns.
- They are not placed directly in Sections.
Consistency
- Each widget type serves a specific purpose; teams should use the correct widget for the content being presented.
- Repeated design patterns should use the same widget types for clarity and consistency.
Behavior & Styling
- Widgets inherit theme-level styling unless intentionally adjusted for a design requirement.
- Responsive behavior should be managed using built-in widget settings, not spacing hacks or manual formatting.
Restrictions
Some widget actions are intentionally limited to protect site structure and maintain long-term stability.
HTML/CSS Editing
Custom HTML or CSS applied directly to widgets is restricted and only used when approved for specific needs. The Editor 2.0 experience is not a freeform code environment.
Unintended Transformations
Widgets should be used for their intended function—for example, icons should not replace bullet lists, and headings should not be used for paragraph text.
